RECENT DECISIONS OF THE FIA WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL CONCERNING KARTING
At its meeting on 5th December 2018 in Saint Petersburg (RUS), the FIA World Motor Sport Council took the following decisions on the basis of the proposals of the International Karting Commission.
MINI CLASS
The homologation of the Mini Class, chassis, engines and tires will also involve the ignition, the intlet silencer and the float-chamber carburettor at the same time. The homologation process will take place in 2019 for implementation on 1st January 2020.
GENERAL PRESCRIPTIONS 2.14 GENERAL SAFETY
Article Q has been modified. The starting up, running in, warming up or testing of kart engines in the Paddock as well as in the Reserved Areas is strictly prohibited. Offenders will be fined at least €250 and may be disqualified in case of a repeat, a sanction where a possible appeal will not be suspensive. Application from 1st January, 2019.
FIA KARTING COMPETITIONS
The free test sessions on Wednesday and Thursday will be discontinued from 1st January 2020.
PENALTY FOR WRONG POSITIONING OF THE FRONT FAIRING
The time penalty sanction for a front fairing in the wrong position during the FIA Karting Championships, Cups and Trophies, will be five seconds instead of 10 seconds. Application from 1st January, 2019.
Article 2.4.3 of the Technical Regulations regarding fixation of the ballast has been updated. Application from 1st January, 2019.

Panta has been selected for the exclusive supply of Fuel to the 2019 FIA Karting Championships.
Dell’Orto has been selected for the exclusive supply of carburettors in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIA Karting Championships – KZ and KZ2.
ELTO RACING srl has been selected for the exclusive supply of exhausts in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIA Karting Championships – OK.
ELTO RACING srl has been selected for the exclusive supply of exhausts in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIA Karting Championships – Junior and FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
OTK Group S.r.l. has been selected for the exclusive supply of karts to the competitors in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
OMP Racing SpA has been selected for the exclusive supply of overalls and clothes to the competitors in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
LECONT has been selected for the exclusive supply of tyres in the 2019 FIA Karting World Championship – OK and 2019 FIA Karting European Championship – OK.
VEGA has been selected for the exclusive supply of tyres in the 2019 FIA Karting World Championship – Junior and 2019 FIA Karting European Championship – Junior.
BRIDGESTONE has been selected for the exclusive supply of tyres in the 2019 FIA European Championship – KZ2 and 2019 FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2.
BRIDGESTONE has been selected for the exclusive supply of tyres in the 2019 FIA Karting World Championship – KZ, 2019 FIA Karting European Championship – KZ and the 2019 FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
MG TYRES has been selected for the exclusive supply of tyres in the 2019 FIA Karting Endurance Championship.
